The Craft

One maker,
one knife at a time.

Every blade starts as bar stock in a coal fire. It is hand forged, ground, heat treated and fitted in a small shop in the heart of Missouri. No production runs, no outsourced parts.

The sheath is cut, stitched and finished by hand to match the knife it carries. Attention to detail and quality come first, which is why each piece is meant to last a lifetime.

“No two are the same.”

The Shop

DFB Knifeworks is a one man shop in the heart of Missouri. Old styles matter here. These are not replicas, but many carry a mountain man or frontier look, shaped by hand from hot steel, antler and leather. Each piece is a work of art in itself, and built to be used.

Meet the Maker

David Beyes.

I create one of a kind fixed blade knives. No two are the same. All of my work is completed by myself, in a small shop, where attention to detail and quality are the priority.

I am constantly creating new styles: cooking, hunting, survival and everyday carry. Old styles and looks are very important to me. I do not make replicas of old knives, but many have a mountain man or frontier feel.

Creating is something I am passionate about. Each individual piece is a work of art in itself, made with the kind of care that results in something that will last a lifetime.

“Every knife leaves this shop finished by hand.”

FAQ

The most common questions I get about the knives, the steel, custom work and care.

If you have a question that you can't find here, please contact us directly for more information.

DFB Knifeworks is David Beyes, working out of a small shop in the heart of Missouri. Every knife is designed, forged, ground, fitted and sheathed by hand, by one maker, start to finish.

Yes. No two are the same. Antler, steel and leather all behave a little differently, so every knife carries its own shape, grain and forge marks. What you see in the photos is the exact knife you receive.

I do, when the schedule allows. Send a note with the style you have in mind, hunting, cooking, survival or everyday carry, and we will talk through steel, handle material and size.

High carbon steel, hand forged in a coal fire and heat treated in the shop. Handles are elk antler, stag and natural hardwoods. Sheaths are handmade from quality leather and included with the knife.

High carbon steel will patina, that is normal and it protects the blade. Wipe it dry after use, keep a light coat of oil on the steel, and never store it wet in the sheath. Condition the leather once or twice a year.

Knives in stock ship within two to three business days from Missouri. Standard delivery usually arrives within five to seven business days. Custom work takes longer and is quoted up front.

Yes. If a knife is unused and in original condition, it can be returned within thirty days of delivery. Email me first so we can sort it out. Custom commissions are final sale.

Always. I am constantly working on new styles: cooking knives, hunting knives, survival blades and everyday carry. Sign up below to hear when a new piece comes off the anvil.
